God is sooooooo far beyond our understanding, yet He has done everything necessary for us to know HIm. Then, after having provided, at Divine expense, everything we need, and after inviting us, only to be rebuffed, denied and despised, He weeps over us, knowing that our persisting in our hard heartedness will separate us from HIm for eternity.
God knows everything about everything all of the time. God is never surprised, never caught off guard. God inhabits eternity, yet He loves us, even if He knows we will ultimately reject Him. I also realize that His judgment and His vengeance are real and seemingly contradictory to His love and mercy and grace. This just adds to the fact that God is inscrutable.
The pain He suffers when His loved ones turn from Him and against Him is unfathomable. We bear and share some of that pain when we see loved ones shut God out of their lives. When I see loved ones suffer because of wrong choices, I can hardly bear up under the strain.
God not only allows us to share the pain of lost loved ones, He allows us to share the plan of redemption to those lost loved ones. Just consider this passage.
2 Corinthians 5:20
(20) Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
This is not simply passing God's message to the lost. This is us pleading,
PLEASE BE RECONCILED.
GOD LOVES YOU.
ETERNITY IS COMING.
THE DAY OF SALVATION WILL PASS.
