05/11/17 TAKE A RIDE, THE TICKET IS FREE

05/11/17 TAKE A RIDE, THE TICKET IS FREE

I use to, "Ride the altar." I sought God often in my youth. My Liberal "pastor" use to ask folks at the church why I would go to the altar. (Have I ever mentioned that Liberalism numbs your skull, blinds your eyes, stops your ears and hardens your heart?) Of course I was not responding to his "fiery oratory" or "soul searching messages." I was hearing and responding to God's conviction.

I am glad when folks, including the children of our church, hear the voice of God in their lives and respond in humble surrender. When a person is not willing to humble himself, publicly declare his need for God and take steps of reconciliation with those he has offended, then that person is shutting himself out of God's family, plan, salvation.

Getting right with God is not simply feeling bad about doing wrong, it is about allowing God to change you into the person He wants you to be.

Remember, recently I posted that we need to confess and repent if we do wrong. It is not up to us to set the standards of reconciliation. God has said for those who sin to confess, repent and follow Jesus. PERIOD.

If the children do not see us respond to heart wrenching conviction, by making life changing commitments, then we are not teaching them the way of God. Every step we take should lead to a closer walk with God and a deeper relationship with the body of Christ in our local church.
