Unless a person is spiritually transformed by the power of God, he is lost, whether he is a cultural Christian or a cultural Muslim. Until and unless a person is being indwelt by the transforming Spirit of Truth (the Holy Spirit), that person is dead in his/her sins and trespasses.
One may live by the cultural and moral precepts of their religion (such as Christianity or Islam), but they are still in the flesh, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God, regardless of their culture.
Cultural Christian are referred to in the Bible as the Tares (bastard wheat, Darnel), which gives the appearance of true wheat, but in reality they are hypocrites. These people are often deluded by Satan to think of themselves as Christians.
AMERICA AND EUROPE ARE FILLED WITH CULTURAL CHRISTIANS, WHO ARE AS LOST AS ANY THROAT SLITTER.
Here are the verses I intend to use this morning as I preach about true believers and followers of Christ.
Psalm 31:5 Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.
John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Ephesians 5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
2 Thessalonians 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
1 Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
1 John 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
1 John 5:6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
GOD DELIVER US FROM CULTURAL CHRISTIANITY.
