12/06/17 TWO BETTER THAN ONE

12/06/17 TWO BETTER THAN ONE

Whoa, you really need to read this short passage (and I hope you will read my few thoughts about this great passage).

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
9 Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.

As a boatman, a waterman, a seaman, you understand the great importance of being part of a crew (even if only two), of having a "shipmate."
Two can launch a boat better than one.
Two can "man a boat," or work a boat and maintain a boat better than one.
Two can watch the sea better than one.
Two can pull a net better than one.
Two can take more fish, oysters, clams, than one.
Two can get a boat through a storm better than one.
Two can shove off from a shoal, a marsh better than one.
Two can ensure safety better than one.
Two can endure long, difficult trips better than one.

The same principles apply throughout the human experience.

God's plan for our success is unity and commitment.
God wants to us to be joined together with Him and committed to Him.
God wants husbands and wives to have the same unity and commitment to each other (with Christ as the center and foundation).
God wants families to have the same unity and commitment to each other (with Christ as the center and foundation).
God wants churches to have the same unity and commitment to each other (with Christ as the center and foundation).

Unity and Commitment requires denial of self.
Unity and Commitment requires being dependable and realizing our own dependence.
Unity and Commitment requires a vision for the task, the journey, the needs of others.
