02/24/17 THIS STORY DOES NOT EVEN MAKE ANY SENSE
The largest and fastest rescue vessel in port pulled away from the dock and steamed toward the disaster area, just beyond the harbor, where hundreds of men, women and children floundered, after a cruise ship tore its hull open. The water was cold, the sharks and barracudas were gathering, the storm was building and the sun was setting. Everything shouted doom for those thrashing in the sea. But the rescue vessel would arrive very soon and deploy twenty life boats to find and save the victims.
The captain was tried and proven through many years of service; the crew had been highly and rigorously trained; the equipment was state of the art. But there was a problem. For various reasons, there was discord in the ranks, resulting in sudden and sharp division between officers and crew and between crew members themselves.
Some of the crew just did not want to follow orders;
Some did not want to suffer the discomfort of the rescue operation;
Some thought they had a better method;
Some did not like their team members;
Some thought that the captain of the cruise liner should be tried for incompetence;
Some thought that the crew members of the cruise ship were responsible for the disaster;
Some had other activities and interests, to which they turned their time and energy;
Some were complaining because the work was too hard;
Some complained that their equipment was not in working order;
Some were planning their next vacation in the mountains;
Some were prejudiced against the racial or ethnic or national background of those who were drowning;
Some were resting because they had spent their strength in other activities the day before.
I told you this did not make sense.
Yet, the world around us is dying in a sea of sin, being ravaged by the blood thirsty enemies of their souls, lost in the darkness, separated by howling winds and crashing waves of adversity. and the rescuers are so committed to the insignificant and so overwhelmed by their own conflicts that they have closed their ears to the cries for help, they have cut the lines of communication with their captain and officers.
Sadly, the Old Ship of Zion is being manned by a crew of incompetent, halfhearted, self satisfied, rebellious, pleasure seeking, gutless and disconnected "rescuers," who stand by while the world sinks into eternal night.
The Life Saving, Soul Saving work of the church goes undone because of a plague of sin on board, which is wiping out the ministry force.
God, help us.
